New Smiles Welcome!

The term TMJ stands for the Temporomandibular Joint and it is the joint that connects the lower jaw to the skull and the upper jaw. It is one of the most complex joints in the body, capable of forward and backward movement, rotations, and side-to-side movements. When patients mention the TMJ, they are usually referring to complications and problems with this joint. Some of the most common problems are pain, limited movement of the lower joint, muscle spasms, and clicking sounds.

The doctors at Scarborough Family Dentist can diagnose and evaluate such conditions and make recommendations for treatment. Some common treatments are night guard, bite guard and bite adjustments. If you are experiencing any problems with your jaw, please call for an appointment.
